Facing a presentation, don’t know where to begin, and think, “I’ll just wing it! What could possibly go wrong?”
You aren’t alone in wanting to wing your presentation. A lot of folks decide to wing their presentations either because they don’t have the time to prepare and practice, or they just think the whole process is a waste of time.
Scott Ford, the CTO and Co-Founder of Corgibytes, used to wing his talks too, but he quickly learned that winging it was making matters worse.
Scott admits, “How well the talk turned out was very unpredictable that way. Sometimes it would be great, and sometimes it would just be awful. And I didn’t have a way to predict how it was going to be. So it made the prospect of speaking even more frightening! Continuing to wing it wasn’t going to work.”
When an pretty big opportunity to speak came along, one that his CEO and co-founder wasn’t going to let him turn down or weasel his way out of, Scott realized it was time take speaking more seriously.
