There’s a lot going on at the moment…
… a lot of emotions running high.
… a lot of words being exchanged.
In moments like this, we are quick to react.
We want to be angry.
We want to point fingers.
We want things to go back to the way they were.
But they won’t.
Yesterday isn’t today.
And tomorrow isn’t today.
Today is today.
Anticipating tomorrow will cause us to feel anxious.
Pining for yesterday means losing out on today.
All we can do is figure out how we deal with today.
And when something happens that we didn’t expect or is the worst of what we expected, the only thing we can do is decide how we want to react to it, or maybe even abstain from reacting.
In our lives, we’ve experienced the unexpected before, haven’t we?
We’ve also probably had the worst thing imaginable happen to us, how did we deal with it before? Was it the way we wanted to or not? Can it serve as a guide?
There are consequences to how we choose to react, our reactions represent our true feelings and thoughts about people, ideas, and events. They let others see our true selves. Doesn’t mean they will necessarily understand why we chose to react the way we did but they will see us and hear us.
So, how do we want to react? How do we want to be seen? And how do we want to be heard?
