As we are gearing up for our next iteration of our Lean Product Development course we’d like to introduce Linda Paulson and Celeste Layne who are recipients of our recent Heroku scholarships.
Linda Paulson is a Senior Product/Marketing Manager at Scantron with a Masters in Educational Technology. She was announced as a winner during an Association of International Product Management & Marketing webinar for “The Art of the Handoff” which was hosted by our very own Femgineer Founder, Poornima Vijayashanker.
With a certification in Agile Software Development and a teaching credential , Linda was excited in attending the course as she is always looking to advance her skills and knowledge. Being a product manager in the education industry, Linda is always looking to get a better grasp of an engineer’s perspective as well as new marketing strategies to bring back to work.
Celeste Layne, our other scholarship winner, recently moved to the Bay Area after working for a small

non-profit in Detroit, Michigan. Celeste heard about our scholarship during a “Girl Develop It” meet-up and won through our scholarship application process. She is curious to learn about the whole startup development process from concept to launch.
Celeste has attended several tech and design-related meet-ups and workshops since arriving in the Bay Area to build up her skills in front-end development. With this in hand, she is ready to build a product that draws on her background in art and design. Although she finds some aspects of the product development process a challenge – such as customer development, marketing and pricing – she is confident that she will quickly get the hang of these concepts through the scrappy marketing, pricing models and user research lectures.
As the course instruction begins in February 4th, 2014, Linda and Celeste will definitely get the chance to not only get great input from each other but from other students and instructors as well. Further the homework and labs provided in the course will help both them improve best practices in the product development process and a depth of background in lean methodology.
