It’s natural as a founder to look at other founders who are ahead of you and wonder, “Yeah they can do it, but can I?!”
When we don’t push past this question and believe in ourselves, we begin to hold ourselves back, and stop taking action. The actions that are needed to: test out an idea, transform it into a product, share it with the world, and get feedback.
Or even if we start, then it’s very likely that somewhere on our journey we’ll face other common culprits, that will once again hold us back like: our own judgement, which gets fueled further when prospective customers, employees, and investors reject us.
So how do you set aside doubt, judgment, rejection– the things that hold you back, and instead push forward?
In this video, Ben and I talk share how we confronted these common culprits and pushed past them. Because the last thing we wanted was to feel regret. Neither of us wants to look back and say, “Oh I had that idea…”
We want to point to the progress and impact we made!
I also share the importance of going at your own pace, and debunk a popular Silicon Valley myth: “You don’t wake up in the morning with an idea and then go to bed with an exit.”
Finally, Ben talks about how he knew very little about startups and fundraising. All he wanted to do was build a product and make an impact. And today he is! Ben and his team at Olark have bootstrapped their way to a profitable multi-million dollar business.
Watch the video and learn how you too can push forward and make progress!
