HI @NYC Drew. I don’t think Mint really nabbed me It was more that I joined to become a better engineer, and I knew I wouldn’t get that experience anywhere else but at a startup. I also knew Aaron from college, and bought the idea and business model of Mint. I was a nobody just a gal with a dream of becoming a femgineer and Mint helped make that a reality.

I don’t think folks at Stanford are really dropping out, I meet more folks from other parts of the country dropping out to move to SV. What’s your startup? Let me know when you’re in town and we can meet up for coffee. Good luck!

Fantastic article. Loads of insight. I’m about to move my start-up to Silicon Valley. Whats the going rate for a Stanford drop out these days? How do I get myself a #2 Poornima; how did Mint grab your attention and then nab you?

Really Nice Article,it adds a +1 to what i had in mind since last 2-3 months,ie. quitting my cushy MNC job and joining a good early stage startup to learn the complete cycle from an idea to a good product to make it sell and only a good startup can teach me that and not an MBA.

Well,Good Luck for your startup and i am keeping my fingers crossed to hook up with a startup very soon.

So no regrets about dropping out of the Masters program at Stanford and not pursuing an MBA? If your parents are anything like my traditional Indian parents, you must have had one heck of a time explaining that decision!

Nice post – I like your description of the different stages. Will probably help a lot for people thinking about joining a startup.

My favorite part of your post:

Adapting and accepting is very important.
